Two Pious Ladies of Great Sacrifice – Mukarram Abdur Raheem

By Toheeb Okunade

In a lecture delivered at the third session of the Jalsa Salana Nigeria 2023 on 23rd December, Mukarram Abdur Raheem Naeem-Ahmad, Muballigh Silsila, on the theme, Hadhrat Khadija and Hadhrat Nusrat Jahan Begum: Two Pious Ladies of Great Sacrifice, the scholar shed light on the exemplary lives of these revered women who are model for believing women.

The Mukarram mentioned that Hadhrat Khadija (ra), unlike many, never used her status or wealth to dominate or exert undue influence over Hadhrat Muhammad Mustapha (saw). Instead, she humbly submitted herself to his authority, placing all her wealth at his disposal. He emphasized that Ahmadi women can draw inspiration from Hadhrat Khadija (ra), learning that a woman can be economically advantaged over her husband and still enjoy a happy and successful marriage, contrary to common beliefs.

The lecture underscored the detrimental impact of assertiveness stemming from economic privilege, which has led to broken homes and strained relationships.

Hadhrat Khadijah (ra) was lauded for being the first to believe in the Messenger of Allah (saw), demonstrating virtues that the Holy Prophet (saw) cherished. Her sacrificial support for Islam, depleting her entire fortune, was a pivotal moment.

Highlighting another noble figure, Hadhrat Nusrat Jahan Begum, also known as Amman Jan (ra), the lecture spotlighted her unwavering commitment to worship despite her daily household responsibilities.

Hadhrat Amman Jan’s remarkable hospitality towards the guests of the Promised Messiah (as) and her emphasis on the importance of prayer were noted as significant sacrifices deserving recognition.

The renowned scholar concluded by underlining Hadhrat Amman Jan’s emphasis on training the eldest child, as it sets an example for younger siblings, encouraging the adoption of positive habits.

The lecture provided valuable insights into the lives of these esteemed women, offering lessons on sacrifice, humility, and devotion.
