In a celebration of faith, modesty, and family values, sixteen couples were joined in holy matrimony on Saturday, December 20, 2025, during the 71st Jalsa Salana Nigeria.
The solemnization ceremony, held at the Jalsa ground in Ilaro, was officiated by Missionary Qasim Oyekola in an atmosphere filled with devotion. He joined the couples in accordance with Islamic tradition, praying for their unions to be blessed with righteous offspring and reminding them that lasting success lies not in material wealth, but in absolute reliance on Allah.
Prior to the Nikkah ceremony, the Jama’at organized a comprehensive counseling session where the Amir and the Heads of Auxiliary Bodies personally prepared the prospective brides and grooms for the realities of marital life.
Leading the charge, the Amir (National President), Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Alhaji (Barr.) Alatoye Folorunso Azeez, anchored his advice on the Holy Qur’ān. Citing Surah Ar-Rum (30:21), he described marriage as one of the signs of Allah, established to foster tranquility, love, and mercy. He admonished the couples to cultivate deep mutual understanding, noting that it is the pillar that sustains a harmonious home when challenges arise.

Speaking from the perspective of experience, the Sadr Majlis Ansarullah (Elders’ Forum), Alhaji Dauda Raji, urged the couples to adopt a policy of quick conflict resolution and never allow misunderstandings to linger. Stressing the importance of empathy, he referenced a Hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) which states that a true believer must want for his brother what he wants for himself, urging spouses to apply this golden rule within their marriage.
Providing a motherly perspective, the Sadr Lajna Imaillah (Women’s Wing), Hajia Lateefah Odeyemi, emphasized that a marriage anchored on the fear of Allah and mutual consultation can never be broken. She advised the brides that patience and perseverance are key virtues for a lasting stay in their husband’s home, adding that there should always be room for open consultation between husband and wife.
In a direct address to the youth, the Sadr Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya (Youth Wing), Hafiz AbdurRofeeq Alaka, cautioned the couples against entering marriage with unrealistic expectations occasioned by social media. He urged them to face reality, warning that physical appearance changes and should not be the sole basis of choice or happiness. He concluded by reminding them that if they are sincere with each other, Allah Himself has promised to provide for their needs.
The event, combining spiritual blessings with practical counseling, highlighted the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s continued commitment to building strong, resilient families capable of weathering the storms of the modern world.
