Renowned Islamic scholar and senior lecturer at Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Sa’eed Olurotimi Timehin, has underscored the universal relevance and transformative potential of the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw). Speaking at the Jalsa Salana Platinum Jubilee (Ahmadiyya Nigeria Convention 70th Anniversary) on December 21st, 2024, Prof. Timehin described these teachings as the foundation for the development and prosperity that individuals and nations yearn for.
In his thought-provoking address, Prof. Timehin expounded on the Prophet’s unparalleled role as a mercy for all creation. He highlighted the Prophet’s compassion towards children, women, the weak, and even enemies during war, emphasizing his contributions to humanity, animals, and the broader kinship of life.
Citing George Bernard Shaw, the professor noted the writer’s acknowledgment of the Holy Prophet as “the savior of the human race” and a leader capable of solving the world’s problems. Prof. Timehin explained that the Prophet’s teachings transcend time, culture, and geography, providing timeless guidance suited to all ages.
The scholar delved deeper into the Prophet’s exemplary qualities, describing his administrative brilliance, egalitarian principles, and transformative leadership. Prof. Timehin emphasized that the Prophet’s governance was rooted in values such as integrity, honesty, mutual consultation, and mercy, offering both spiritual and political guidance.
In conclusion, Prof. Timehin called for collective action to celebrate Prophet Muhammad as the “Cosmic Bridge of Benevolence” and the “Supreme Alphabet of Divine Realities.” He urged all to imbibe the Prophet’s teachings as a pathway to addressing contemporary challenges, including Nigeria’s quest for good governance. His lecture left attendees inspired to integrate the Prophet’s timeless principles into their personal and national lives.
